Turning developer-built tools into one configuration portal for more than ten markets

I was the first and only designer on Vitality’s internal Configuration Portal, where platform teams
configure the member app. I turned verbal briefs into written requirements and developer-ready designs, and moved the team to four-week cycles that start with requirements.

Vitality US · August 2022 – March 2024

Splitting one admin portal into two: one for employers, one for Vitality’s teams

I was the sole designer for most of the project. I redesigned the tools for the new Client-Employer Portal
and the internal Admin Portal, and designed role-based access that shows each admin only what their role allows.

Sorcery Coffee Roasters · May – July 2022

Designing a specialty coffee roaster’s first online shop, alongside two other designers

A specialty roaster in Pretoria needed one site to sell coffee beans, point consumers and clients to its cafés and order online. Three designers worked every task in parallel, and the client chose one direction each round.

How I work

Start with the 5W1H method

I discover by asking questions: what, why, who, where, when and how. The answers separate facts from assumptions before anyone designs or builds.

Team co-creates the outcome

I turn conversations into requirements, decisions and handoff notes the whole team aligns on, and build from.

Trust is in the details

I sweat the small stuff to help users feel confident: clear labels, helpful error messages and feedback when it matters.

Test ideas against real data

I explore different concepts with real examples before I present possible solutions as prototypes.

About me

I’m a Product Designer for enterprise and internal tools. Through Retro Rabbit, I was embedded with Vitality Group, where I led all design work on the Configuration Portal that platform teams use to configure a health programme for more than ten markets. Working directly with product and engineering partners, I took every tool from verbal brief to developer-ready handoff. I also mentored new designers through Retro Rabbit’s mentorship programme.

This niche found me before I went looking, and it’s now the work I choose: the quiet backstage structure that shapes everything people see on stage.

Beyond the screen, I enjoy hiking, travelling and hosting friends and family, and I volunteer in my community as a qualified health and wellness coach. Next, I’m looking for a full-time product design role, remote or hybrid from Pretoria, South Africa, where my thinking and craft can move complex systems forward.
